Cookie Policy
Last updated: 14 April 2025
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones our website at panthalaa uses, and how you can manage or disable them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes the broader context of how Panthalas handles personal information.
Panthalas is a financial education practice based in George Town, Penang. Our website is a small, informational site. We do not operate an e-commerce platform or a membership area.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They allow the website to recognise your device on return visits and to remember certain preferences or actions. Cookies can be:
- Session cookies — temporary files deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies — files that remain on your device for a set period, or until you delete them.
- First-party cookies — set directly by the website you are visiting.
- Third-party cookies — set by a domain other than the one you are visiting, typically by analytics or advertising services.
Similar technologies such as web beacons, pixels, and local storage items may function in a comparable way and are covered by this policy.
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
We place cookies into three broad categories. The table in Section 3 lists each specific cookie alongside its category.
Essential Strictly Necessary
These cookies are required for the website to function. They enable basic features such as page navigation and the cookie consent banner. The website cannot operate properly without them. They do not require your consent under Malaysian law.
Analytics Performance & Analytics
These cookies collect information about how visitors use our website — which pages are visited most often, how long visits last, and similar aggregate data. This information helps us understand how the site is being used and where it could be improved. These are only set with your consent.
Marketing Marketing & Tracking
These cookies are placed by third-party advertising and marketing services. They are used to track the effectiveness of enquiries coming from paid advertisements and to build an understanding of how people found us. They are only set with your consent.
3. Cookies Used on This Website
The following table describes each cookie we may place or permit third parties to place when you visit our website.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
panthalas_cookie_consent |
Panthalas | Essential | Records whether you have accepted or declined optional cookies, so we do not ask again on your next visit. | 12 months |

_ga_XXXXXXXX |
Google Analytics (GA4) | Analytics | Used by GA4 to maintain session state and measure engagement on the website. | 2 years |
_gid |
Google Analytics | Analytics | Identifies and stores information about how visitors use the website; used to compile statistical reports. | 24 hours |
_gat |
Google Analytics | Analytics | Used to throttle request rate to the Google Analytics service, limiting data collection on high-traffic pages. | 1 minute |
_fbp |
Meta (Facebook) | Marketing | Used by Meta Pixel to identify browsers for the purpose of providing advertising services and tracking ad conversions. | 3 months |
_fbc |
Meta (Facebook) | Marketing | Stores a click identifier when an advertisement on Meta platforms leads to a visit on this website. | 2 years |
MUID |
Microsoft (Bing) | Marketing | Used by Microsoft Advertising (Bing) to identify unique web browsers for the purpose of tracking conversions from Bing Ads. | 13 months |
_uetsid |

The cookies marked Analytics and Marketing are only placed if you consent via our cookie banner. Strictly necessary cookies are placed regardless of your choice as they are required for basic site operation.
4. Third-Party Services
Some cookies are set by third-party services rather than directly by Panthalas. We have no direct control over those third parties' data practices. We encourage you to read their privacy and cookie policies for further detail:
- Google Analytics — policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta (Facebook Pixel) — facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Microsoft Advertising (Bing) — privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement
Our website may also embed a Google Maps iframe to display our studio location. Google may set cookies through this embed. Refer to Google's privacy policy for details.
5. How to Manage Your Cookie Preferences
You have several options for managing or removing cookies. Each is described below.
5.1 Via Our Cookie Banner
When you first visit our website, a banner appears at the bottom of the page offering you the choice to accept or decline optional cookies. Your choice is saved for 12 months. If you change your mind, clearing your browser's cookies will prompt the banner to reappear on your next visit.
5.2 Via Your Browser Settings
All modern browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. Below are direct links to guidance for the most common browsers:
Please note that disabling all cookies may affect the basic functionality of some websites, though it will not materially affect your experience on ours.
5.3 Opt-Out Tools for Specific Third Parties
Meta (Facebook): Manage your ad preferences at facebook.com/ads/preferences.
Microsoft Advertising (Bing): Opt out at Microsoft Advertising opt-out.
General opt-out (EU/global): You may use the Your Online Choices platform or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tool to manage interest-based advertising from participating companies.
6. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that signals to websites that you prefer not to be tracked. Our website does not currently respond to DNT signals in a technically standardised way, as no agreed industry standard for DNT has been adopted. We recommend managing your preferences directly via our cookie banner or your browser settings, as described in Section 5.
7. Consent and Legal Basis
Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and broadly accepted international principles require that non-essential cookies are placed only with your informed consent. Our cookie banner fulfils this requirement. You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing your cookies or adjusting your browser settings — this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing that occurred before your withdrawal.
8. Cookie Retention and Deletion
Each cookie's retention period is listed in the table in Section 3. Session cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until their expiry date or until you delete them manually. Clearing your browser's stored data will remove all cookies from our site, including the consent record — the cookie banner will reappear on your next visit.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new services to our website, when third-party providers change their cookie behaviour, or when legal requirements change. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. We recommend checking this page periodically if you have an ongoing interest in how we use cookies.
